Friends, I am delighted to tell you that we had a full house at our county convention Saturday. We had rousing speakers that included Rep. Vida Miller, Sen. Yancy McGill and out-going chair, Richard Smith. Tyler Jones spoke on behalf of our congressional candidate, Linda Ketner and in the audience, there was Bob Conley from Horry County who is throwing his hat in the ring against GOP senator Lindsay Graham. We will have both Linda and Bob at upcoming Waccamaw Neck and county Democratic meetings.
Our new party chair is Jamie Sanderson, first vice chair, Herbert Dennison, second vice chair, Rita Smith, third vice chair, Hannah Cromley, Secretary, Pat Brown, Treasurer, Magy Patten, Executive Committeman, Jack Scoville, Exe. Committeewoman, Marilyn Hemingway, Alternate Exe. Committeeman, Sean Irish, Alternate Exe. Committeewoman, Susan Smith.
We passed some wonderful resolutions that included our commitment to parks and recreation in the county, banishing pay day lenders and voting with a paper trail. I am going to the state Democratic convention representing the county on the rules and platform committees so rest assured, I am committed to bringing forth all of our resolutions to be voted on by state wide delegates! (if any of you would like to see the resolutions voted on today, let me know)
Congratulations to all of us who took the time to attend our county convention and who also are making the commitment to represent the party at the state convention in May.
